Moving Along

I technically started this challenge on March 24th, but I really started learning my characters at the start of the 1st milestone on April 8th. I am so excited to announce that I’ve finished my 100 Most Common Radicals list! It took me 52 days. Phew.

I know I’m not to milestone #3 yet, I still have 15 characters and 9 days, but I’d like to look at something very important that I’ve learned. I underestimated my ability to learn.

Even though this took me 52 days, or more technically 68 days if you count my faux start, most of my learning has taken place in clusters. What does this mean? Two things.

  1. I need to be more consistent
  2. I can learn more characters at a time than I ever thought possible

Granted, these are just radicals, so maybe this will change when I start getting in to more complex characters. I haven’t gotten there yet, so I have no idea. The main thing to take away from this:

Learning Chinese is very possible. I just have to work at it.

My next problem is where to go from here? It’s been fantastic having a list to systematically check off, but what do I do now? As soon as I figure that out, I’ll let you know.
